Veterinary Assistant / Client Care - No Nights! No Weekends!

Companions Animal Hospital is looking for a Veterinary Assistant / Client Care Representative who enjoys both hands-on patient care and working with people.

This is the perfect role for someone who likes variety, stays busy and is comfortable moving between our medical and client care teams. One part of your day may include assisting with appointments and treatments, while another may involve helping clients, answering phones or keeping the schedule moving. Both are critical to helping pets and the people who love them.

Our team works hard, supports one another and genuinely enjoys working together. We’re open Monday through Friday from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m.—no nights, no weekends. 

WHAT YOU’LL DO

• Welcome clients, answer phones and schedule appointments
• Assist with check-in, discharge, invoicing and payments
• Help manage client communication, appointment flow and schedule openings
• Maintain accurate medical records
• Assist veterinarians and technicians with appointments, treatments and procedures
• Obtain histories, vital signs and patient information
• Assist with patient handling, sample collection, radiology, pharmacy, surgery and dentistry
• Perform skills such as venipuncture and catheter placement based on experience
• Jump in where needed to support patients, clients and teammates

WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR

• Previous veterinary experience preferred
• 1+ years of Veterinary Assistant or customer service experience preferred
• Comfortable working with both pets and people
• Strong communication and customer service skills
• Organized, dependable and detail-oriented
• Able to multitask in a busy environment
• Positive, team-oriented and eager to learn and offer solutions to whatever comes your way

Experience with venipuncture, catheter placement, radiology, anesthesia, surgery, dentistry and pharmacy is a plus, but you do not need to be an expert in every area.

Hours: Our hospital is open 7a-6p Monday-Friday.
Pay: $16-$19/hour, depending on experience and certification

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

While performing the duties of this job, the team member is regularly required to talk and hear. The team member must frequently use a computer for long periods of time. Specific vision abilities are required to do this job including close vision. This position requires walking and/or standing for long periods of time, bending, reaching, grasping, and repetitive motions. May be exposed to disinfectant/sanitation chemicals, pets dander, and excretions. This position is exposed to low to moderate noise levels. Must be able to lift up to 30 lbs. unassisted, 40 lbs. with assistance.
