Associate Veterinarian – Hybrid GP + Urgent Care | Brookfield, WI

• Interest In: A dynamic mix of general practice and urgent care medicine within an AAHA-accredited hospital. This opportunity is ideal for a veterinarian who enjoys the relationships and continuity of GP while also wanting the variety, pace, and clinical challenge that come with same-day and urgent cases. Your caseload may include preventative medicine, internal medicine, diagnostic workups, surgery, dentistry, senior care, acute illness and injury, stabilization, hospitalization, and more complex medical presentations.

• Open to New Graduates or Experienced Veterinarians: We’re excited to meet both! A new graduate can build a strong clinical foundation while gaining exposure to both routine GP and urgent-care medicine with structured mentorship and support. An experienced veterinarian will have the autonomy to practice high-quality medicine, work through a diverse caseload, and continue growing their clinical interests in an environment that offers more variety than traditional GP alone.

• A Schedule Designed Around More Consecutive Time Off: This role includes longer clinical shifts and weekend coverage, including both Saturdays and Sundays, but the tradeoff is fewer days worked in a row and the opportunity for larger stretches of consecutive days off.

Rather than following a traditional five-day workweek, the schedule is designed to concentrate your clinical time into fewer workdays, creating more meaningful blocks of time away from the hospital for travel, family, hobbies, appointments, or simply having more uninterrupted time to recharge.

For the veterinarian who prefers “work hard while I’m here, then give me real time off”, this can be a very appealing alternative to a traditional GP schedule.

• Hybrid GP + Urgent Care – The Best of Both Worlds: One day may include wellness visits, chronic disease management, and dentistry, while another brings same-day illness, lacerations, GI cases, injuries, or patients requiring stabilization and hospitalization. You’ll have the ability to build long-term client relationships while also developing the diagnostic confidence and efficiency that comes from seeing a broader range of urgent presentations.

This is not overnight emergency medicine. Brookfield provides urgent and emergency evaluation during hospital hours and works with nearby 24-hour emergency and specialty hospitals when a patient requires a higher level or continuity of care beyond what can be provided in-house.

• New Graduate Mentorship: New graduates have access to our structured, one-year mentorship program, including a dedicated Clinical Mentor with intentional schedule overlap, regular mentor meetings, goal-setting, virtual learning opportunities, and coaching around client communication and professional development.

A hybrid environment can be an incredible place to grow because you’re exposed to both routine medicine and cases that challenge you to think quickly and strengthen your diagnostic skills, but we also recognize that this needs to happen with the right support. Our goal is to help you progressively build confidence and independence, not expect you to manage everything alone on day one.

New graduates also have access to our 5-day Surgical Mentorship Program, offered year-round in a small-group setting where participants typically complete approximately 20–40 surgeries, as well as a 2-day Dental Wet Lab led by our veterinary dental specialist.

In addition to generous CE support, you’ll have access to our Clinical Tracks Program, offering complimentary RACE-approved CE facilitated by veterinary specialists within our network.

• Urgent Care & Hospitalization Capabilities: Brookfield Veterinary Wellness and Urgent Care provides emergency evaluation, stabilization, hospitalization, and urgent medical treatment during hospital hours. The hospital is equipped with modern diagnostics and medical technology to help doctors assess patients quickly and determine the appropriate level of care.

When a patient requires advanced or 24-hour emergency treatment beyond what can be provided in-house, the team coordinates referral to nearby emergency and specialty resources.
