Emergency and Critical Care Registered Veterinary Technician
Veterinary Specialty Hospital North County | San Marcos, CA
Full-time | Three 12-hour shifts per week

Pay: $32–$42/hour for RVTs; $38–$45/hour for candidates with a Veterinary Technician Specialist credential
Additional compensation: $2,000 sign-on bonus

Veterinary Specialty Hospital North County is seeking an experienced Registered Veterinary Technician to join our Emergency and Critical Care team. Work alongside Emergency Doctors, Critical Care Specialists, and a multidisciplinary specialty team while providing advanced nursing care for emergency and critically ill patients.

You’ll support complex emergency and critical care cases in a collaborative specialty hospital with access to advanced treatments.

Our team includes board-certified specialists in Critical Care, Surgery, Neurology, Internal Medicine, Cardiology, Oncology, Radiology, and Ophthalmology, providing opportunities for continued learning and professional growth.

In your day-to-day, you will:

• Deliver advanced nursing care for emergency and critically ill patients.
• Triage emergency patients and communicate changes in condition to the medical team.
• Partner with Emergency Doctors and Critical Care Specialists on assessments, diagnostics, treatments, and procedures.
• Obtain and process laboratory samples and assist with diagnostic imaging.
• Calculate and administer medications, including continuous rate infusions.
• Monitor and recover patients undergoing sedation and anesthesia.
• Support high-acuity patients receiving advanced therapies
• Maintain accurate medical records and provide compassionate client communication.
• Work closely with veterinarians, technicians, and support teams.
• Contribute to a positive, team-focused hospital culture.

What You Bring

• Current California Registered Veterinary Technician license or eligibility to obtain licensure.
• At least two years of veterinary technician experience in emergency, critical care, or specialty medicine preferred.
• Proficiency with triage, venipuncture, IV catheter placement, drug calculations, medication administration, patient monitoring, and anesthesia recovery.
• Ability to recognize and communicate changes in patient condition.
• Strong critical-thinking, communication, and organizational skills.
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and safely restrain patients.
• A collaborative mindset and commitment to exceptional patient care.
