Fairmont Veterinary Hospital is looking for an experienced Associate Veterinarian to join our team in Fairmont, WV. We’re seeking a DVM with 5+ years of small animal experience who is confident in surgery, enjoys challenging cases, and is looking for an opportunity to make surgery and dentistry a meaningful part of their day-to-day practice. While this position will be surgery heavy, a hybrid schedule incorporating appointments may be a possibility. 

Established in 1979, Fairmont Veterinary Hospital is a full-service small animal hospital serving pets and families throughout Fairmont and North Central West Virginia. Our experienced team provides comprehensive care ranging from preventive medicine and wellness to advanced dentistry, diagnostics, soft-tissue surgery, and orthopedic procedures.

What You’ll Do

• Provide high-quality medical and surgical care to dogs and cats
• Perform a variety of soft-tissue surgical procedures
• Perform routine and advanced dental procedures, including dental extractions as appropriate
• Evaluate surgical candidates and develop appropriate pre- and post-operative treatment plans
• Utilize digital radiography, ultrasound, and in-house laboratory diagnostics to support patient care
• Diagnose and manage a broad range of medical conditions
• Perform wellness and preventive care examinations as part of a well-rounded general practice caseload
• Communicate surgical recommendations, treatment plans, risks, and follow-up care clearly with clients
• Collaborate with other veterinarians on complex cases and surgical planning
• Mentor and share surgical knowledge with other members of the veterinary team
• Build strong, lasting relationships with clients and their pets
• Contribute to a positive, collaborative, and high-functioning hospital culture

Orthopedic surgery experience is a bonus! We welcome candidates with experience in orthopedic procedures who are interested in making those skills a larger part of their practice.

Requirements

• DVM from an accredited veterinary school
• 5+ years of small animal general practice experience
• Must be licensed or eligible for licensure to practice veterinary medicine in West Virginia
• Demonstrated experience performing soft-tissue surgery
• Strong experience with companion animal dentistry and dental extractions
• Ability to independently evaluate patients, develop treatment plans, and manage surgical cases
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to work effectively as part of a collaborative veterinary team
