What AVMA's status lines mean
Initial accreditation. “INITIAL (formerly called Provisional) accreditation is not punitive and is simply the terminology given to newly accredited programs for their first five years. Initial accreditation means the program is officially accredited. Initial accreditation does not mean programs are at a higher risk of losing accreditation or that they are “less” accredited. Graduates of an Initially accredited program are considered graduates of an AVMA CVTEA accredited program and would be eligible in nearly all states to take the Veterinary Technician National Exam.” — AVMA
Seven community colleges, and nothing but associate degrees
All 7 programs sit at community colleges, and all 7 award an associate degree: Des Moines Area Community College in Ankeny, Iowa Central Community College in Fort Dodge, Iowa Lakes Community College in Estherville, Iowa Western Community College in Council Bluffs, Kirkwood Community College, Muscatine Community College in Muscatine and Northeast Iowa Community College in Calmar.
The degree title varies only in wording — AVMA prints Associate of Applied Science for some entries and Associate in Applied Science for others.
Kirkwood Community College is the entry to read twice: AVMA gives its program as the Animal Health Technology Program rather than a veterinary technology program, and prints a street address in place of a city.
Anything the list leaves out, from schedules to outcomes, is a question for the school.

What Iowa's RVT registration asks of a program
The Iowa Board of Veterinary Medicine, part of the Iowa Department of Agriculture and Land Stewardship, issues the Registered Veterinary Technician certificate under Iowa Code section 169, subsection 34, and its education condition is graduation from an accredited or approved veterinary technology program.
The requirements page advises confirming before you enroll that a program is accredited or board-approved; every program on this page's list is AVMA CVTEA-accredited, and the education condition turns on accreditation or approval, not on where a program is based.
There is no general on-the-job substitute: the work-experience route in the board's auxiliary-personnel rules, 811 IAC chapter 8, is only for applicants who relocated from a jurisdiction with no licensure requirement, and it still requires passing both the VTNE and Iowa's Veterinary Technician State Examination, the VTSE.
Under Iowa Code section 169, subsection 35, registration is what lets a person use the RVT title; the sources read do not make it a precondition to the work itself.
